Brazils pathway to the energy future

Aktualisiert: 19. Juni 2023

Michael Neswal, Samba Solar Developments’ Partner and Technology Lead gives an interesting insight into Brazil's Energy Agenda for the future:

In 2022 Brazil has issued its ten year's plan to transition its energy production and shift major parts to Solar and Wind generated power.

The English Version of this 10-year plan that has been drafted by the Ministry of Mines and Energy is available here (https://lnkd.in/dJrXa_XY) and is usually referred to as PDE in the Portuguese acronym.

There are several scenarios included in this study taking an average growth of the Brazilian economy of 2,9% in GDP and e.g. 3.4% in load to the national interconnected system (NIS) (i.e. transmission and distribution) in the forecast.

The main idea is to move away from the dependency of big centralizes hydropower plant which initially are responsible for up to 85% of electricity generation to a more decentralized approach, lowering the dependency of water power down to 46%.

A lot of things are about to happen in Brazil: Generation, transmission, distribution and the market for power and energy are about to change.

Samba Solar Developments is enthusiastic to support this unique process and opportunity and has teamed up with excellent partners in Brazil as well as with renown experts with in the industry.
